Thiras 54

Intervention on the unique neo-Gothic building in Athens, by placing plexiglass mirror (300x70 cm) at the main entrance (Thiras str.),2015

Built in 1914, the property of the noble Kefalonian family Tipaldou, uninhabited since 1993, featured landmark in 2008, it has been substantially damaged by earthquakes, weather conditions, and human intrusion. The residence stands as a silent witness of a different way of habitation, a different experience to live over the world.

Property index (a continuous activity of oblivion), a city that organized the post-war reconstruction planning by building without consideration. Demolishing its own memories.

The placement of the mirror to the door of the building detracts from the division of space indoors and outdoors, in public and private. The passer "enters" through the reflective properties of the mirror in the building, becomes part of its own space, becomes presence of a displaced reality which does not lack existence mode and memory.
