...In 1922, due to the troublous national economic situation, was decided a forced internal borrowing (Law 2749 of March 25, 1922 "On compulsory internal loan of GRD 1.6 billion and Royal Decree April 8, 1922). It was realized by cutting in two parts of the circulating National Bank notes. The left divided part continued to operate to the half of its nominal value, while the right one was used as a temporary loan certificate, which could be exchanged later with a regular NBG bond.

Mamaliogkas investigated the NBG archives and decided to isolate and reproduce half of this National Bank note. He captures in his drawing and amplifies a symbol of the Greek financial history: he sets up a game with historical incidents, as a timeless proof of perpetual temporary solutions that woud save the Greek economy. He is after all projecting, ultimately and even more loudly, the quite similar present the Greek economic situation today.
